Hiring Your First Employee
Most start-ups take a "D-I-Y" approach to hiring employees. The good news is, if you know what
to do, the process should not be too difficult. To get started, you need to:
Register With The Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board
Learn About Your Responsibilities As An Employer
Draft Your First Employment Contract
Register With The Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board
• All employers are automatically registered with the CPF Board when they make their
first CPF contribution for the first employee.
• Making your first CPF contribution as a new employer
o Fill up New Employer's First CPF Contribution (Form CPF/1) (PDF).
o Enclose a cheque.
o Mail all the above back to CPF Board.
• After CPF Board processed your first contribution, you will receive:
o Employer Reference Number
o New Employee Contribution Form (Form CPF 92)
o GIRO Form
o e-Submission Form
• After the first contribution, you can add new employees and file your CPF
contributions online.
