Statutory Childcare Leave

• Childcare leave is provided for under the Employment Act.
• Under
the Employment Act, each working parent is entitled to 2 days of
statutory employer-paid
childcare leave per year if he/she has any
child under the age of 7 years.
• Childcare leave is not conditional i.e. the child need not be ill.
• You
should be aware that the Employment Act does not cover managerial,
executive and
confidential staff. However, employers are
strongly encouraged to offer the childcare
leave benefits to all
employees.
